The Problem

Two-wheeler accidents are a major urban crisis, often caused by lack of visibility and delayed emergency response. V-BIKES was designed as an integrated safety shield that not only predicts collisions but actively coordinates rescue efforts in the golden hour after an accident.

Core Safety Features

Smart Safety Stack

  • Predictive Proximity: Ultrasonic sensors maintain a dynamic "safety bubble" around the rider, providing escalating haptic alerts as obstacles enter high-risk zones.
  • Collision Notification: Upon detecting an impact or a sudden fall (via accelerometer), the system automatically transmits the precise GPS coordinates to emergency contacts via a GSM module.
  • Intelligent Safeguards: Integrated helmet detection ensures the system only activates when the rider is properly equipped, promoting better safety habits.

Scalability

The system was built with cost-efficiency in mind, designed to be easily retrofitted to existing affordable commuter bikes. Our prototype demonstrated that high-end safety features like automatic incident reporting can be implemented with low-power, affordable embedded components.
